The Truth Behind All-Natural Vape Juice

The Truth Behind All-Natural Vape Juice

If you’re someone who prioritizes your health, you’ve probably heard that going organic where possible might be a positive lifestyle choice. As with consumables, organic is best for vaping, too. Finding a natural vape juice that tickles your taste buds while still giving you a good hit can be a tricky task, though.

With burgeoning demand for variety in vaping products, organic e-liquids are finding their way into the market on a more mainstream basis. Besides the health benefits of choosing a natural vape juice, fewer chemicals in organic products mean less negative environmental impact.

Benefits of Going Organic

  • Fewer chemicals inhaled.
  • Stricter regulations on the manufacturing process to obtain organic certification.
  • Production is more environmentally friendly.

Potential Downsides of Going Organic

  • It might offer a slightly duller taste because the propylene glycol (PG) used in nonorganic vape juices is a very effective taste carrier.
  • Might come with a higher price tag, due to lower demand and higher manufacturing costs.

From a health and environmental point of view, the benefits of going organic far outweigh any possible downsides. As the organic movement increases in popularity and gains momentum, the diversity of flavors in natural vape juice is sure to increase as the price point drops.

Does 100% Organic Vape Juice Exist?

Natural vape juice does exist, but finding 100% organic vape juice might pose a bit of a challenge. The term “organic” relates to products that get produced without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. The main ingredient in standard e-liquids is a synthetic product -- PG. The fact that it gets manufactured synthetically means any e-liquid containing this product cannot be organic.

A potentially organic alternative to PG used in natural vape juice is vegetable glycerine (VG). As the name suggests, this gets derived from vegetables rather than being manufactured synthetically. We use the term "potentially organic,” however, as the presence of vegetable glycerine instead of PG does not automatically make it organic.

There are other criteria to look out for when trying to find a truly organic product, and you need to do your research to make sure you’re buying the right natural vape juice for you. If you want a truly organic product, all ingredients used in the product, including the nicotine, need to be from a certified-organic source and produced without using synthetic ingredients. The vegetables used in the production of the VG also must be provided by organic means.

So, How Do I Know What’s Really Organic?

As with many health, beauty, and food products on the market, the term “organic” seems to be overused and underregulated. There are two ways to be sure if a natural vape juice is truly organic or not.

The first way is to do research. A lot of research. Check the ingredient lists. The big giveaway is whether the e-liquid contains PG. Once you confirm that the carrier liquid is VG, find out as much as you can about the manufacturing process and ingredients, including the nicotine and flavorings.

The second way is far easier – let somebody else do the research for you. It’s never a good idea to trust labels completely. Certification by the right agencies, however, will leave you in no doubt that the product has undergone a strict assessment process and meets all requirements to be considered organic.

In the U.S., anything 100% organic can be certified as such by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). In the UK, the Soil Association or other accrediting bodies can certify a product organic. If the product you’re looking at displays certification from one of these governing bodies, then it is guaranteed 100% organic.

Keep in mind, however, that just because a product does not display certification does not mean that it is not organic, or at least partially organic. Annual certification is a rigorous, lengthy, and expensive process. As most natural vape juice products are relatively new to the market, they might still be going through the accreditation process.

Without certification, a product might be anything up to 99 percent organic, but unless it is 100 percent, it cannot be certified organic. But organic doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing situation, and products that contain percentages of organic ingredients may still offer some benefits over standard e-liquids, with all of the taste and a more manageable price point.
